Orangeburg died Monday April 28, 2014
at his residence.
Funeral Services will be held 9:00 AM Thursday,
May 1, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel
in Orangeburg with burial at 12:00 Noon at Ft.
Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia with
Military Honors. Rev. Billy Williams and Rev.
Earl Rutland will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Bouchette, Mark Whetstone,
Michael Bouchette, Andrew Williams, David Kinsey
and Mark Barnes.
He was born August 5, 1928 in Lodge, SC; the son of the
late William Brodus Hughes and the late Ethel Bennett
Hughes. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of
World War II and the Korean Conflict. He attended Memorial
Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters;
Bertha Jones, Ruth Brunson and Tilda Rudd and by a brother;
David Hughes.
Survivors include 2 sisters; Pauline Holt of Summerville, SC;
Viola Foster of Iva, SC; 1 brother; George Hughes of Camden,
SC; 1 nephew; Timmy (Marcy) Hughes of Orangeburg; 2 nieces;
Lexie (Wesley) Payne and Ronda (Ricky) Bouchette both of
Orangeburg; great nieces; Adrienne Hughes, Reba Hughes,
Grace Hughes all of Orangeburg and a special friend; David
Kinsey of Orangeburg.
FRIENDS MAY CALL AT THE residence of Timmy and Marcy Hughes;
123 Loch Ness Court, Orangeburg and at the funeral home.
VISITATION WILL BE HELD 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 30,
2014 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
