Judy Hildebrand

Judy Hildebrand, a beloved member of the Orangeburg community, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, with her husband and son, Tres by her side. Born on October 24, 1956, in Orangeburg, S.C., Judy devoted over forty years of her life to a distinguished career within Orangeburg County, beginning with the sheriff's office and the police department, ultimately retiring from the solicitor's office. Her service exemplified her dedication to public safety and community welfare.

Judy was not only known for her professional accomplishments but also for the profound love she held for her family. She was a devoted wife to W. “Bill” Hildebrand, Jr., with whom she shared 43 wonderful years of marriage. She was extremely proud of her son, William “Tres” Hildebrand, III, who brought immense joy to her life, along with her grandsons, Connor and Andrew Kinsey.

In addition, Judy is also survived by a son, Chris Kinsey (Harriett) and her brothers, Jim Porter and Rusty Porter (Kim), as well as her fur baby, "Harlee." She also leaves behind a number of nieces, nephews, and additional family and friends who will cherish her memory.

Judy had a sociable personality and enjoyed simple pleasures, including feeding and watching the hummingbirds in her garden. Her kindness and dedication to those she loved were evident to all who knew her.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Julian and Elaine Berry Porter, who raised a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many.

The funeral services to honor Judy’s life will take place on October 10, 2025, at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service 1:00 PM . Following these services, Judy will be laid to rest in a burial service at Lebanon United Methodist Church in Neeses at 2:00 PM.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Rusty Porter, Jim Porter, Les Porter, Matt Porter, Wesley Porter and Jared Porter.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Grove Park Hospice for the love and support shown to the family and for the care that was shown to Judy.

Judy Hildebrand will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and public service will forever remain in the hearts of her family and the community she diligently served.
