Karen (Bizzell) Smith

Karen Bizzell Smith, 66, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 17, 2025.

Karen was born on April 29, 1958, in Orangeburg, S.C. She was the daughter of Ted Bizzell and the late Ellen Bizzell.  She was employed for many years with Albemarle Corporation.  She enjoyed many hobbies including being outdoors, going to the beach, cooking and working in her garden.  She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will forever be missed.

Survivors include her daughters, Kristina “Kristi” Kittrell (Jeremy), Rachel Gross (Caleb); long-time companion, Robert Johnson; grandchildren, Ava Kittrell, Porter Kittrell, Sarah Kate Kittrell, Ellie Gross; sister, Laura Braxton and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and additional family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at St. George Baptist Church, 2590 Shillings Bridge Road, Orangeburg.  Rev. Terry Wilder and Minister Blake Strickland will be officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at St. George Baptist Church prior to the memorial service.
