Karen Spradley Smith, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, after an extended illness. Karen was born on June 11, 1963, in Columbia, S.C. to parents, Harold and Mildred Gass.

Karen was a dedicated Registered Nurse for over 30 years, serving in the emergency room, labor and delivery and later in hospice care. She found much joy in assisting with medical care.

Karen is predeceased by her parents, and her half brother, Wayne.

She is survived by her husband, Gregg Smith; her son, Clayton "Charlie" Spradley, Jr. (Claire); her daughter, Courtney Spradley; stepsons, Kyle Smith (Prima), Eric Smith (Jordan); grandson, Wells; granddaughter due in January, Clay Spradley and another granddaughter due soon; and a brother, Roy Gass (Rhonda).

Karen never met a stranger and cherished all of her friends, cousins and family members. One of Karen's favorite vacations always involved being at a beach. She also enjoyed boat rides on the lake with her dog, Zuma.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Lebanon United Methodist Church, 768 Calvary Church Road, Neeses with Nurses Honor Guard given at the funeral service. Rev. Sheldon Withrow will be officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:00 A.M. prior to the funeral service.
