Kathy Love Ott ,49, died on Wednesday, March 30, 2016. She fought a hard fight with cancer for over four years.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, April 3, 2016 at St. George Baptist Church in Orangeburg, S.C. with burial at Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery in Cope, S.C. Rev. Bert Petty and Larry Davis will be officiating the funeral service. Chaplain Ken Hay and Rev. Alan Woodward will be officiating the graveside service.
**The casket will be placed in the church 1 hour prior to the service.

Kathy Love Ott was born on September 8, 1966. She is the daughter of Billy and Bonnie Hebrand Love of Denmark. Kathy graduated from Jefferson Davis Academy in 1984. She graduated from Midlands Technical College in Columbia with a degree in Dental Hygiene. Kathy married the love of her life, Owen Ott of Cordova. They were married on August 8, 1998. To this union they were blessed with a son, Thomas Owen Ott, III on June 27, 2002. Kathy worked for Dr. Mike Strong in Denmark and Dr. David Hutto in Orangeburg up until 2012. Over the years, she had the opportunity to work as needed for fellow hygienists at other dental practices. Kathy was a dental assistant for many years before becoming a Dental Hygienist. She was a member of the S.C. National Dental Hygiene Society and Phi Theta Kappa Society. Kathy volunteered in the TRMC Gift Shop from 1998-2000. She also served as the den mother for Indian Waters Council Cub Scout Troop #90. Kathy was a previous member of Ghent's Branch Baptist Church in Denmark where she joined at a very young age. After uniting in marriage, she became a member of Canaan Baptist Church. Kathy was very involved in the church and was an active choir member.
Kathy lived life to the fullest and she loved her family dearly. She was always involved in the life of her son, Thomas, as well as her nieces and nephews. She loved her patients and wrote notes in their charts so that she could remember what to talk with them about at their next office visit. Kathy never met a stranger and she was a friend to all. Kathy loved to talk to people and was an avid collector of flamingos. Kathy enjoyed traveling to Hilton Head, New York, the beach and the mountains.
She was predeceased by her grandparents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Shellie Love of Blackville and the late Coley Hebrand and the late Mr. and Mrs. Gene Folk of Norway and her father-in-law the late Thomas O. Ott, Sr. of Cordova.
Survivors include her husband of the home, Owen Ott, a son Thomas Owen Ott, III, her parents Billy and Bonnie Hebrand Love, a sister Kitty Love and Henry F. Bamberg, IV (Bubba) of Bamberg; a sister-in-law, Demerise Ott and David Dutch Minor of Columbia; sister-in-law, Birdie Ott Felkel of Columbia; nieces and nephews, Mary Katherine Bamberg and Rebecca Bamberg both of Bamberg, Mary Bradham Minor and Delaney Minor of Columbia, John Felkel and Dani Hallman of Elloree; mother-in-law Rozzie Ott of Cordova and a special Godmother, Hilma Curtis of Denmark. The family would like to give a special thanks to Grove Park Hospice, Tammy Irick, Haley August, Jackie Shuler, Paula Crider, Latonya Peeples, Emma Buck, Chaplain Ken Hay and the staff of RMC 4-West, SCOA and Dr. Leland Joseph McElveen for all their love, compassion and care shown to Kathy throughout her illness.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg, S.C.
