Kris Stroman Pendarvis, Sr., a devoted family man and respected business owner, passed away peacefully at his residence on January 10, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on December 17, 1954, Kris dedicated his life to both his family and career as the owner and operator of his own trucking business.
Kris was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and was an active member of the American Legion, exemplifying his commitment to service and community. Known for his kind heart and unwavering love for his family, Kris cherished every moment spent with them.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Gail Atkinson Pendarvis, who stood by his side throughout their journey together. Kris is survived by his children: Dana Campbell and Victoria Moore (William), both of Orangeburg, and Shari Sumption (Justin) of Orangeburg. The legacy of his love continues through his fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy.
Kris was also survived by his siblings: his brothers, David Pendarvis and Jody Pendarvis, both of Bowman, and his sister, Lauretta Shuler. He held a deep affection for his extended family, which included a number of nieces, nephews, and additional family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Kris is preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Laura Stroman Pendarvis, his brother, Albert Pendarvis, his son, Kris S. Pendarvis, Jr., and his grandson, Matthew Dalton Pendarvis. Their memories will remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him.
A memorial service will be held in his honor on January 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., located at 1012 Whitman St SE, Orangeburg, SC, 29115. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate the life of a remarkable man who touched so many lives with his kindness and love.
