Larry Victor Kemmerlin

Larry Victor Kemmerlin, 60, of Spartanburg, S.C. passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024, after a long courageous battle with Parkinson Disease.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.  Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery, 727 Waterspring Road, Orangeburg.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel prior to the funeral service.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jeremy Byrd, Quintin Byrd, James Robinson, Bennie Brown, James Holbert and Michael Kemmerlin.

Larry was born on July 30, 1964, in Orangeburg.  He was the son of the late Ashbea Kemmerlin and the late Ella Grandy Kemmerlin.  Larry received his Bachelor’s degree in 1988 from South Carolina State University.  He went on to be a part of the 1890 Program with South Carolina State University.  In his early years he put his love of exercise and running into a career as a personal trainer.  Larry retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield.  In his spare time, he enjoyed many hobbies including woodworking, sailing on his sailboat and he loved Krispy Kreme donuts.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved fur baby, “Maelee.”

Survivors include his sister, Brenda Brown (Bennie); his brother, Michael Kemmerlin (Virginia); nieces and nephews, Jeremy Byrd (LaKindra), Quintin Byrd, James Robinson, LaTosha Philavong (Danny), LaShondia Brown, Kenneth Brown, Jennifer Barnette, Jeanna Barnette, Arianna Barnette, Amy Barnette; great-nieces and nephews, Marquis, Marique, Jaylyn, and Alana Byrd, Quintin, Jr., Q'nyera, and Quintavious Byrd and an additional number of great-nieces, nephews, family and friends.
