Laura Stroman Weathers

Laura Stroman Weathers, 69, of Orangeburg died suddenly January 6th, 2017 at her residence.
Laura was born on October 8th, 1947 in Orangeburg, a daughter of the late Edison Edward and Anna Laura (Keller) Stroman. She was the wife of the late George Whetsell (Gee) Weathers III. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Harold Preston (Stacey) Walter and a granddaughter Laura Adison Walter of Orangeburg. She is also survived by two sisters Susan Stroman (Jim) Burgess of Beaufort, and Cynthia Stroman (Richard) Gastley of Warrenton, Virginia; a special sister-in-law Dr. Susan Weathers (Lane) Floyd of Lake City, SC and a number of nieces and nephews.
Laura worked for the Department of Social Services as a secretary for a number of years. She later served as guardian ad litem for many children in Orangeburg County. She was known for her outstanding job and her willingness to always put others before herself.
She and her late husband were longtime members of the Bowman Southern Methodist Church where she served as secretary and treasurer for many years. She also volunteered as secretary for Bowman Academy as well as many other volunteer services. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Orangeburg where she loved her John Knox Sunday School Class and her church family.
A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, January 10th at 2:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Orangeburg officiated by Dr. Daniel Massie directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc.in Orangeburg. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery followed by a reception at The Center of the First Presbyterian Church.
