Lester B. Till, Sr.

Lester B. Till, Sr., 94, of Orangeburg passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024.

Mr. Till was born on March 7, 1930, in Orangeburg.  He was the son of the late Jacob B. Till and the late Jessie Fersner Till Aimar (Lewis).  He served his country in the United States Army as a member of the 82nd  Airborne Paratrooper division where he was a veteran of the Korean War.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Ruby Ready Till, a daughter, Catherine Marie Till, sons, Richard “Mike” Carter, Angus Faust “A.F.” Carter, III, grandson, Travis Livingston, a brother, Leonard Ashley Till and his sister, Ruth Till Davis.

Survivors include his son, Lester Boyce Till, Jr.; daughter, Rachel Carter Miller; brothers, Morris Calhoun Till (Nancy), James "Jimmy" F. Aimar (Joan); sister, Linda Till Webber; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and additional family.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 2720 Broughton Street, Orangeburg.  Rev. B.D. Fersner will be officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service at the residence of Mr. Till, 336 Farmstead Lane, Orangeburg.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Michael R. Carter, Ronny Ayers, Jacob Till, Dodd Stewart, George Bonnette and Eugie Ott.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers and staff with Village Homecare and Grove Park Homecare and Hospice for the outstanding care and compassion that they have shown during this time.
