Levern Pou Fanning, 79,  passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at his residence.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, December 23, 2016  at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Wendell Bruner will be officiating.  Burial will follow in the Bruner Family Cemetery in Neeses, S.C.

Pallbearers will be Mr. Fanning’s grandsons, Andrew M. (Andy) Carter II, Graham Phillips, Reagan Phillips and Joel Cook along with Charles Bruner, Chris Bruner and Pierce Bruner

Mr. Levern was born on February 4, 1937 in Norway, S.C.  He was the son of the late Charlie Pou Fanning and the late Azilee Berry Fanning.  Mr. Fanning was a United States Army Veteran.  He was a member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church.  He was an avid University of South Carolina (“Go Gamecocks!) and an Oakland Raiders fan. He loved flowers and enjoyed his cats.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charlie (Tom) Fanning and Frank Fanning and a sister Earline Wagers.

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Carolyn Ann Bruner Fanning of the home; son, Levern Pou “Tiger” Fanning II (Machen) of Cordova; daughters, Lavet “Baby” Carter (Andrew, Sr.) of Ehrhardt and Polly “Pumpkin” Fanning-Phillips (George) of Columbia; grandchildren, Andrew (Andy) Carter II (Caroline) of Ehrhardt, Teresa Carter Cook (Joel) of Fort Mill, Graham M. Phillips and Reagan Phillips of Columbia; great-grandson, Andrew Carter III “Tripp-Lovey Buddy” of Ehrhardt; brothers, S.P. Fanning, Harold Fanning, Harry Fanning, James “Jim” Fanning and Pete Fanning; sisters, Maggie Fogle, Patsy Beck and Barbara Ferguson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call at the residence.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 140 Stoneridge Drive, Suite 210, Columbia, S.C. 29210.
