Linda (Gaines) Johnson

Linda Gaines Johnson, 74, of Cordova passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025 after a brief illness surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M.on Wednesday, February, 26, 2025at Northside Baptist Church, 1250 Columbia Road, Orangeburg.  Rev. Larry Williams will be officiating. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, 4830 Columbia Road, Orangeburg.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street Orangeburg.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Nick Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Willie Jones, Perry Russell, Glenn Erhardt, and Theo Milhouse.

Linda was born on July 19, 1950 in Charleston, S.C.  She was the daughter of the late Fred Gaines and the late Joann Hacker Merwin.  She was employed with Edisto High School in the guidance department for many years until her retirement. Linda will be remembered for her sweet smile and her love for helping people.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Gina Johnson.

Survivors include her husband, Rickey Johnson of the home; children, Katrina Coleman (Robert) of Jacksonville, FL, Reesha Johnson (Willie) of Swansea; Nicholas Johnson (Cloda) of TN, Andrew Johnson (Julie) of Cordova; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Sandra Hoffman (Johnny); step-father, Edwin Merwin and a number of additional family and friends.
