Linda Lou (Proffitt) Hitchcock

Linda Lou Proffitt Hitchcock, 76, of Cordova passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, with her loving family by her side.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street Orangeburg.  Pastor Benny Williams will be officiating.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 2720 Broughton Street, Orangeburg.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 14, 2024, prior to the funeral service.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Joshua Kittrell, Donald Jennings, Kyle Childress, Mike Pooser, Damon Brown Crawford and Daniel Brown Crawford.

Mrs. Linda was born in Virginia on September 22, 1947.  She was the daughter of the late Sylvester Proffitt and the late Nellie Mae Jarrett Proffitt.  She received her Bachelor’s degree from Vorhees College in Organizational Management.  She was employed for many years with DHEC until her retirement.  She was a member of World Faith Center church.  There were many things that Linda enjoyed doing, including spending quality time with her family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Robin Michelle Harbeson.

Survivors include her daughter, Melanie (Jeff) Kittrell; Gary Hitchcock; grandchildren, Jana Kittrell, Caleb Kittrell, Abby (Kyle) Childress, Joshua Kittrell, Delilah Kittrell; sister, Zenith (Bill) Tabor; nephews, Willie (Mary) Tabor, Robert Tabor; sister-in-law, Sheila Risher and a number of additional family and friends.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Shelly Jennings for being a lifelong friend and caretaker and Valerie Britt for the love care she gave to Linda.
