Mrs. Lucretia Kemmerlin Rourk-Pate, 86, of Elloree passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 11, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Pate was born on April 10, 1937, in Elloree, S.C. She was the daughter of the late Arthur B. Kemmerlin and the late Frances E. Rourk Bonnette. She had a passion for teaching children. Her teaching career spanned over 30 years. She taught English to middle school children. After retirement she worked with Charleston Southern University in the registrar’s office and later served as a substitute teacher for several private schools in Orangeburg. Once she retired, Mrs. Lucretia was able to enjoy crocheting, and watching soap operas. She was also an avid sports fan. She loved watching USC Gamecock football and watching her grandchildren play sports. Mrs. Lucretia was a faithful member of Elloree First Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Teresa Pelinski (John), Jeffrey Baltzegar, Marcie Zeigler (Allie Ray); grandchildren, Jeff Zeigler (Tina), Dan Zeigler (Christy), Katie Chavis (Dylan), Abbey Baltzegar, Jensen Baltzegar, Stephanie Zeigler, Mattie Zeigler, J. Scottie Zeigler; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Zeigler, Jeffrey Zeigler, Joshua Zeigler, Abbi Zeigler, Elijah Zeigler, Ayden Chavis, Declan Chavis; a special cousin, Gloria Zeigler and a number of nieces, nephews and additional family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl Lenwood Pate, sisters, Frances Hartley and Mattie Spires.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Elloree First Baptist Church, 6202 Old #6 Highway, Elloree. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery, 1106 Antioch Road, Santee. Pastor Don Bell and Rev. Kevin Hess will be officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are J. Scottie Zeigler, Dan Zeigler, Jeff Zeigler, Larry McAlhaney, Billy Kirby and Troy Spires.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Phileathia Sunday School Class and the Married Adult Sunday School Class.
