Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will remain a guiding light for all who knew her.

It is with deep respect and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of Lura H. "Jayne" Ensley, fondly known as Jayne, who departed this life on Sunday, June 28, 2026. Born on August 10, 1939, in North Carolina.

She is survived by her devoted daughters, Denita Franks (Jon) of Orangeburg and Debra Loften of Santee; five grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and her dear friend, Staci Reinhold.

Jayne's life was marked by the cherished memories she shared with those now gone before her. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Mr. And Mrs. H. and  Gurtha St. John Hawkins; her husband, Dewey D. Ensley; her son, Dale Lynn Ensley; her brothers, Robert Hawkins and Wilburn Hawkins both of N.C.; and her sister, Pasty Shumate, also of N.C. 

The family would like to thank Pathway Hospice and especially Megan and Lorraine for their love and for the care that was shown to the family but most of ll to Jayne.

As those close to Jayne grieve her passing, they also celebrate a life well lived—a life filled with meaningful connections, resilience, and love. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will remain a guiding light for all who knew her.

At this time, the family holds close the memories and legacy of Lura H. "Jayne" Ensley, grateful for the years shared and the love received.

A service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
