Luther L. “Luke” Nettles, 84 of Neeses died Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at his residence.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM before the service at the church.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Double Branch Baptist Church in Orangeburg with burial in the church cemetery with Rev. Steve Scott officiating directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
He was born November 23, 1932 in Orangeburg County, SC; the son of the late Luther Nettles and the late Bessie Nettles Nettles. He was a member of Double Branch Baptist Church . He served in the U.S. Army and was retired from the City of Orangeburg Parks and Recreation.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Bernice Etheridge Nettles of Pine Hill Community; 2 daughters; Terri Nettles Whetstone and Brenda N. Myers (Chris) all of Pine Hill Community; 3 grandchildren; Evan Reeves Whetsone, Bryson Neal Whetstone and William Preston Wolfe; a sister, Frances Whisenhunt of Cope; a brother; Billy Nettles (Betty) of Pine Hill Community ; a sister-in-law; Minnie Sue Nettles of Pine Hill Community and a number of nieces and nephews.
