Lyla Rebecca "Becky" Braxton

Lyla Rebecca "Becky" Cribb Braxton, 80 , of Orangeburg died Thursday, December 17, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family after an extended illness. She was born May 28, 1935 in Conway, SC; the daughter of the late George Buck Cribb and the late Alma Cribb Neely Martin. She is survived by her husband, Edward J. Braxton of 62 years of marriage.

Becky was a very loving, devoted and caring Mother. She was a strong woman of Godly character and very much loved, respected and cherished by her family and friends. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Edward J. Braxton of the home; 4 children; David E. Braxton (Linda Faye) of Cayce, SC, Janet Lynn Ulmer (George Donnie) of West Columbia, and Michael Stephen Braxton (Christy) of Cameron, and the late Ronald Kenneth Braxton. She is survived by 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is sister to 7 siblings; Mettie Ruth Huggins (Charles) of Gilbert, Isaac Laverne Cribb (Brenda), George Wendel Cribb, Jean C. Griggs (J.D.), Walter Leo Cribb all of Columbia, Richard Wayne Cribb (Donna) and David Anthony "Tony" Cribb (Carolyn) all of Blythewood.

Mrs. Braxton was co-owner of Braxton Shoes for 42 years where she served in many capacities with her husband in the family business. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, and enjoyed serving in many other church activities.

Her funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Northside Baptist Church, Columbia Rd., Orangeburg with Dr. Shane Stutzman, Rev. Jim Parnell and Rev. David E. Braxton, Jr. officiating with Entombment to follow at the Good Shepherd Mausoleum at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, Hwy. 21, Orangeburg.

Serving as pallbearers are Brian Ulmer, Clark Baer, Jr., Derrick Braxton, Tripp Braxton, Jonathan Braxton, Samuel Braxton, Daniel Braxton and Kenneth Braxton. Honorary Pallbearers are Gregory Whisennant and Robbie Whisennant.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, December 18, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to Grove Park Hospice for excellent care given to Mrs. Braxton during her illness.
