Mable (Lodie) Elodia (Bochette) Allen

June 22, 1927 — June 29, 2025

Mable Elodia (Lodie)Allen,98, passed away peacefully at her home on June 29, 2025, in Orangeburg, S.C. with her family by her side.  Born on June 22, 1927, in the same city, Lodie was known for her kindhearted nature and servant's heart. She graduated from Orangeburg High School in 1944 and later met the love of her life, Leonard Allen in Washington, D.C., marrying him on June 20, 1948.

Lodie was a faithful member of Four Holes Baptist Church, where she was the first female deacon. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her dedication to visiting the shut-ins, providing comfort and companionship. Lodie’s community spirit extended into her hobbies; she was an avid gardener and a proud member of the Azalea Garden Club. She was also renowned for her delicious macaroni and cheese, a favorite among family and friends.

She leaves behind a loving family, including her daughter, Linda (Larry) Elliott of Ellicott City, MD, and daughter-in-law, Diana Allen of Orangeburg. Lodie was a cherished grandmother to three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Her life was also enriched by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Lodie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mable Bochette, her beloved husband, Leonard Allen, her son, David Allen, her brother, Robert Bochette, Jr., and her sister, Wilma Bochette.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.  The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, prior to the service.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Steve Doboszenski, Edmund Tallent,  David Doboszenski,  Jason Doboszenski, Elliot Seifstein, and Matthew Peck.

Memorial contributions in Lodie’s memory can be made to Four Holes Baptist Church, 1622 Four Holes Rd., Orangeburg, S.C. 29115.

Lodie Allen will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her generous spirit and loving heart.
