Malcolm Lynn Jones, Sr.

January 5, 1942 — May 25, 2024

Malcolm Lynn Jones, Sr., 82, of Elloree passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024.  He was born on January 5, 1942, to the late Thomas Bair Jones, Sr. and the late Mamie Wiles Jones.

He leaves behind, his wife of 23 years, RoseMary Weeks Moore; four children, Malcolm “Lynn” Jones, Jr., Karen Jones Roberts (Stefan), Crystal Jones Rosier, William “Richie” Jones (Melanie); five step-children, George Moore (Karen), Paul Moore (Charlene), Rod Moore (Kelley), Tammy Moore, Mark Moore (Joni); twenty grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, JoAnn Jones Chance, Frances Jones Smith; sisters-in-law,  Harriett Jones, Johnnie Jones and an additional number of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers, Thomas “Tommy” Bair Jones, Jr., John Williams Jones (Deloris), and Aubrey Glenn Jones.

Mr. Jones served his country in the United States Army and the Army National Guard.  He was employed with Utica Tool in the 1970’s and Renken Boat Company from 1971 until 1993 until his retirement.  He then went back to work with KOYO in 1994 and retired once again in 2009.  He enjoyed being on his farm that he named “The Back Fourty,” whether riding his favorite Farmall tractor or clearing land with his backhoe.  He also enjoyed fishing after his retirement.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.  Rev. George Moore will be officiating.  Burial will follow with military honors at Hungerpillar Cemetery in Elloree, S.C.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel prior to the funeral service.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Mel Ball, Bruce Griffin, Shandon Kemmerlin, Curtis Jones, Mark Jones, Scott Pate, Brian Salsibury and Wendel Salsibury.
