Mannie S. Ott Westbury, 94, of Orangeburg, was gathered into the arms of her Lord and Savior being faithful unto death and given a crown of life (Rev. 2:10) on February 12, 2016. She was born October 29, 1921 to the late Samuel and Addie Sturkie.
Her funeral will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Monday, February 15, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg with Dr. Shane Stutzman, Rev. Jim Parnell and Rev. Chuck Wells officiating. Visitation will be held 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Orangeburg.
Mannie Ruth was a graduate of Willow School in Norway, S.C. She worked and retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company. She was a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church.
She was predeceased in death by her husband, John David Ott and her daughter, Mary Ellen Westbury. She has left memories to be cherished by her daughters, Johnnie Murdaugh (Doug) and Bonnie Bagamary of Orangeburg. She has three grandchildren, Dougie Murdaugh (Kim), Marty Murdaugh (Laura)of Orangeburg and Tracey B. Foxworth (Doug) of Pembroke, Georgia. Granny, as she was affectionately called, was blessed with five great grandchildren, Corey, Hunter, Matthew and Sydney Murdaugh and Eli Foxworth. She also had a number of nieces and nephews and a special friend, Kerri Whetstone.
Granny was warm-hearted, outgoing and empathetic to everyone she came in contact with as she had been through so much in her ninety four years of life. Her belief in God and the promise of eternal life helped her through the physical infirmities she experienced in the last years of her life.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Sturkie, David Sturkie, Matt Kotler, Tony Kittrell, Tommy Chavis and Harry Leviner.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Faith Sunday School Class of Northside Baptist Church.
Granny was blessed with many special friends and caregivers during her life, especially the entire staff of Jolley Acres HealthCare Center, her adopted family for the last six years.
