Mary Frances "Granny" King Porterfield, 89 of the Methodist Oaks died Friday, March 4, 2016 at The Methodist Oaks in Orangeburg.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg with burial at Ott Cemetery in Branchville with Rev. Larry Williams and Rev. Odell Breland officiating.
She was born July 3, 1926 in Carlton, GA; the daughter of the late William Sanford King and the late Amendia Seymour King. Everyone always called her "Granny". She was a member of Cameron Baptist Church. She was retired from Youngware Products in Smoaks, SC; Mrs. Mary was the widow of the late James A. Porterfield and was preceded in death by a daughter; Linda Porterfield, a grandson, Mark Alan Garrett and a grandson-in-law; Brian Rutland and 8 brothers and 5 sisters.
Survivors include 1 son; Thomas A. (Janet) Porterfield, Sr. of Orangeburg; 1 daughter; Mavis (Gene) Horger of Orangeburg; 4 grandchildren; James A. Horger, Pamela Rutland, Thomas A. (Cynthia) Porterfield, Jr. and Eddie Garrett; 14 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the residence of Tom and Janet Porterfield; 617 Mimosa Drive, Orangeburg and at the funeral home.
Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
