Melissa Caroline (Braxton) Fields

Melissa Caroline Braxton Fields, 52, of Orangeburg, S.C. passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025, with her loving family surrounding her.  She was born on September 26, 1972, in Orangeburg, S.C.  She was the daughter of the late Frank Dennis Braxton and the late Patsy Griffin Braxton.

Melissa is predeceased by her parents and a niece, Michaela Jordan Johnston.

Melissa is survived by Freddie Michael Fields; her children, Brent Adam Ridgway, Haley Alexandra Ridgway, Christopher Cody Braxton (Cayce), Crystal Fields Muckelvaney (Eric), Melanie Fields (Scott), Breeze Fields (Tiffany), Cheree Fields (Rodney); her grandchildren, Sailor Braxton, Sylas Braxton, Gianna Furtick, River Braxton, Madelyn Muckelvaney, Kayden Muckelvaney, Mya Fields, Natalie Fields; her sisters, Donna Braxton Milikin (Andy), Angela Denise Braxton Spires (Michael), Stephanie Renay Braxton Evans (Robbie), Karen Elaine Braxton Moore (Stephen), Kimberly Lynn Braxton Johnston (Michael); her best friend, Angie Chavis a number of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and extended family.

Melissa was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  She met no strangers and would give everything to others in need.  She loved to bake and had a lot of hobbies.  She loved anything with a “star” on it and had a creative soul.

Melissa will be remembered for her unselfish acts of kindness, her incredible larger than life sense of humor and her big heart.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 2720 Broughton Street, Orangeburg.  Rev. Alan Woodward will be officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.
