Mr. Michael "Zig" Zeigler, 70, of North, South Carolina, passed away on August 7, 2025.
Born on June 27, 1955, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, Michael was the son of the late Mr. N.E. Zeigler and Helen King Zeigler. He grew up with a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship—qualities that would define his life both personally and professionally.
Michael dedicated his career to welding, a trade that reflected his hardworking nature and skillful hands. Known for being a true handyman, he could often be found building or fixing something with care and precision. His love for woodworking was more than just a hobby—it was an extension of his creativity and patience. Whether crafting something new or restoring the old, Michael took pride in every detail.
Outside of work, Michael found joy in the outdoors. He loved hunting and spending time in nature, where he felt most at peace. He also had a gift for storytelling—his tales were often shared around family gatherings and left lasting impressions on those who listened.
Michael shared over 36 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Karen Cato Zeigler. Together they built a life filled with love and family. He was a devoted father to Amanda Zeigler; Megan Mizell (Damon); Katie Zeigler; Alyssa Weeks; and Carter Canty. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Julia Shuler, Dakota Shuler, Kyler Zeigler, and Eden Mizzell.
He is also remembered by his siblings: brothers, David Zeigler and Ken Zeigler; sister, Diane Topps; father-in-law, John Cato (Susan); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives he touched deeply.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Harold Zeigler; and his mother-in-law, Vermelle Anderson.
Friends may come by the residence of Megan and Damon Mizell at 7195 Wire Road in Branchville on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 P.M.
A man of integrity and quiet strength, Michael will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, his skilled hands that built so much more than structures, and the stories he told that brought laughter and connection to those around him.
