Monlee Varnadoe, Jr. born January 31, 1948, left this world on Friday, July 31, 2026, after an illness. His life, defined by service, love of family, and commitment to his community, will be honored and cherished by all who knew him.

Monlee’s journey began as the beloved son of Monlee Varnadoe, Sr. and Margaret Simmerman Varnadoe, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Michael and Jimmy Varnadoe, and his sister, Linda Sease. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.

A foundation for Monlee’s life of service was laid during his time in the United States Navy. His dedication and sense of duty carried through into his academic pursuits; he graduated from Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College with a degree in Criminal Justice. This background propelled him into a career where he touched countless lives — Monlee retired from the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office as a Lieutenant, earning the respect and trust of both colleagues and community members.

Beyond his service and professional accomplishments, Monlee found his greatest joy as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his devoted wife of over 55 years, Mary M. Varnadoe. Their daughter, Jennifer Lee Varnadoe, brought continued pride and light into Monlee’s life.

Monlee’s legacy also lives on in his grandchildren: Andrew Clements, Jr. and Andrea Lee Clements, and in his great-grandchildren: Chandler Lee Black, Linkoln N. Clements, and Kenai Gartman. He leaves a lasting bond with his sisters—Sherry Ramsey, Judy Sandifer, Marie Mackenzie, and Deborah Fuller—whose close relationships enriched his life and sustained a deep familial connection across generations.

While Monlee’s absence will be deeply felt by family and friends alike, the impact he made through his steadfast commitment, open-hearted generosity, and loving presence remains a guiding light to those left behind. His memory will be honored in the kindness he shared, the service he rendered, and the family bonds he nurtured.
