Ned Fogle, a man whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of many, passed away on December 6, 2025, at the age of 78, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on March 11, 1947, in Norway, S.C., Ned was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and joy that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
For over 20 years, Ned dedicated himself to his career at Zeus, where he built lasting friendships and made significant contributions. His professionalism was matched only by his ability to connect with others; he truly loved everyone and never met a stranger. Ned was a faithful member of Double Branch Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, sang in the choir, and fully immersed himself in the community of faith that brought him so much solace and joy.
Ned cherished the simple pleasures in life, particularly his love for gospel music and golf. A highlight of his golfing journey came when he achieved the remarkable feat of two holes-in-one on the same day at Hillcrest Golf Course—a proud accomplishment that he often shared with laughter and fondness.
He is survived by his beloved wife of over 49 years, Esther F. Fogle, and their son, Jacob "Lance" Fogle (Cheyanne), who together cherished countless memories filled with love and laughter. Ned is also survived by his dear brothers, J.L. "Bubba" Fogle (Margaret) and Renzer Fogle (Gayle), his twin brother, Ted Fogle, and his sister, Linda Jeffcoat (Ronnie). The family ties extended further with brothers-in-law Larry Bolin and Hammond Fralick (Lettie), and sisters-in-law Margaret Boyleston and Faye Shumpert, all of whom felt the warmth of his spirit.
Ned held a special place in the hearts of his nieces and nephews, including George Boyleston, Dallas Collins (George), son-in-love, Shane Sanford (Jill), additional nieces, Andrea Kuhnert (James), Shawna Taylor (Chris) and Ashley Crider (Brian). He was a mentor and a guiding light to them, always encouraging and supporting their endeavors. He also had many additional nieces and nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob L. “Red” Fogle and Katherine Hutto Fogle, along with his sisters, Annie Ruth Morris and Beatrice Fogle Bolin. Their spirits will forever be entwined in his memory, as he carried their lessons and love throughout his life.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ned's remarkable life on December 9, 2025, starting with visitation at 1:00 PM and followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, both held at Double Branch Baptist Church in Orangeburg, SC. The burial will take place at the church cemetery. Rev. Wayne Ellis will be officiating.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are George Collins, Joey Watkins, Todd Jeffcoat, James Kuhnert, Chris Taylor, and Harold Hayden.
Honorary pallbearer will be George Boyleston.
Memorials in Ned's memory may be made to Double Branch Baptist Church at 3567 Neeses Highway, Orangeburg, S.C. 29115 or to St. Jude Children's Hospital at 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation at www.alzfdn.org.
The family would like to thank the staff of Grove Park Hospice especially, Vickie, Meisha and Karen for their compassion and to Wendy Wilson for her constant love and support.
Ned Fogle will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His gentle spirit and loving heart will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
