Nellie G (Vaughan) Otey

Nellie G. Vaughan Otey, 85, passed away at her residence. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Orangeburg Baptist Tabernacle 3440 North Rd, Orangeburg, SC 29118 with Rev.Thomas Brookshire and Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 18, 2018 prior to the funeral service at the church

Burial will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, November 19, 2018 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd, Columbia, SC 29229 directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.

Mrs. Otey was born on November 21, 1932 in Mauldin, SC.  She was the daughter of the late William Lee Vaughan and the late Pauline Hammond Vaughan. She was a long-time member of Orangeburg Baptist Tabernacle; she was retired from Edisto Primary School Cafeteria. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great  Grandmother.

Survivors    include her husband of 61 years,  Sidney W. Otey, Sr. of the home; a daughter and son-in-law; Carol and Steven Johnson of Carthage, NC and a son and daughter-in-law; Sidney and Jeanne Otey, Jr. of Greenville, SC; five grandchildren, Stephen (Beth) Johnson, David (Carrie) Johnson, Jay (Holly) Johnson, Tabitha (Travis) Crotts and Eric Otey; 12 great grandchildren and a brother, James (Faye) Vaughan.
