Nesbeth Mendel Ott , 90 passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at his home in Cope.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, August 11, 2017  at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg  wi burial at Memorial Park Cemetery in Orangeburg  with  Rev. Scott Alewine officiating.

Pallbearers will be Travis Smoak, Mendel Miller, Craig McPherson, Johnny Earl Fogle, Jack G. Valentine and Dusty Mack.


Honorary Pallbearers will be  Archie McPherson, William McPherson, Tommy McPherson, Tony Gunnells, David Zorn, Jerry Antley, Wayne Axson, Larry Bellamy, John David Steverson, Larry Dyches, Danny Dyches, Troy Ott, Lewis Jones and Ricky Antley, Allen Antley and Gene Antley.

Mr. Nesbeth was born January 2, 1927 in Orangeburg County, SC; the son of the late Owen Earl Ott and the late Geneva Murphy Ott. He was a former employee of Hygrade Meats and Roadway Express. He was a member of Covenant Baptist Church. He was a Big Gamecock Fan. He was preceded in death by his first wife and Mother of his children; Hilda G. Ott; 2 brothers, Warren Ott and O.E. Ott, 1 sister; Lois Brickle and a daughter, Julia Nesbeth Ott.

Survivors include his wife, Sara Ott; 2 daughters; Beverly and Billy McPherson and Janet and Randall Miller; 7 grandchildren; Travis, Craig, William, Archie, Tommy, Amy and Mendel; 16 great grandchildren; 2 sisters; Nell Fogle and Mary Mack and a number of nieces and nephews; Caregivers; Carolyn Hall, Alexander Ritter and Cynthia Ritter.

Friends may call at his home and at the funeral home.

Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.

Memorials may be made to Covenant Baptist Church; 2310 Cannon Bridge Road, Orangeburg, SC 29115 or to Alzheimer’s Association; 140 Stoneridge Drive, Suite 210, Columbia, SC 29210.
