Oscar Lee Jackson, Jr., born on April 14, 1935, peacefully departed this life on September 9, 2025.

A proud veteran, Oscar served in the United States Navy.  Following his military career, he dedicated many years to his professional life, finding fulfillment in his work with Greenwood Mills and the County of Orangeburg. His commitment and diligence were felt by all who had the pleasure of working alongside him.

Oscar was not just defined by his career; he was also known for his vibrant personality and fervent passions. A huge fan of the Clemson Tigers, he cheered for his team with enthusiasm and pride, bringing joy to those who shared in that experience with him.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his children: Michael Lee Jackson, Robert Lee Bowen (Terri), and Julie Mack (Lamont). He cherished his role as a grandfather to seven grandchildren. Oscar is also survived by his two beloved sisters, Mildred Cornelius and Angie Ott (Freddy), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, who will continue to carry his legacy forward.

Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Lee and Vera Herlong Jackson, and his brothers, Johnnie Jackson and Danny Jackson. 

A Graveside Service will be held on September 12, 2025, at Gethsemane Baptist Church in St. Matthews, South Carolina, beginning at 11:00 AM. Rev. Henry Cooper will be officiating.  Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Oscar's life, reflect on his many accomplishments, and honor his memory in a fitting tribute to a remarkable man.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Calhoun Convalesent Center and to Grove Park Hospice for the love and care that was shown to "Slim" and for the support that was given to the family.

Memorials may be made to Grove Park Hospice at 1324 Grove Park Drive, Orangeburg, SC 29115 or to a charity of one's choice.
