Peggy Jo Foster

August 21, 1939 — February 8, 2024

Peggy Jo Foster, 84, of Orangeburg passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, February 8, 2024, after being diagnosed with cancer less than 6 months ago.  She was blessed with recent visits from many family members and friends, and is now blessed to be with the Lord and loved ones in Heaven.  In Peggy's own words, "God doesn't make mistakes, and he's always had my back."

Peggy was born on August 21, 1939, in Paul Smiths, New York.  She was the daughter of the late Kenneth F. Sawyer and the late Hortense H. Sweet Sawyer Black.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Dwight Black, her son Jimmy Cooper, her daughter, Cathy C. Stevenson, and her brother, Edward “Bud” Sawyer.

She is survived by her sister, Norma McCall Shipman, her daughters, Debbie Cooper Womack, Rebecca Cooper Grooms of Summerville; her grandchildren, April Forman (David), Jared Cooper, Trey Grooms, Bryce Martin, Michayla Evans (Clay), Mirhanda Jo Easterling, Breylun Cooper, and five great-grandchildren: Ethan, Grace, Noah, Porter and Pierce; daughter-in-law, Tami Cooper, and a number of nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends.

At a later date the family will hold a memorial at Saranac Lake, NY, where Peggy grew up.
