Mrs. Peggy was born on April 17, 1936, in McRae, Georgia.  She was the daughter of the late Sam Heflin and Mamie Webb Heflin. She was a proficient writer from a young age and began writing poems and songs while in elementary school, with many being published later in life. She loved her crossword puzzles, flowers and gardening, music and her family. She was a Christian who enjoyed reading her bible every day and was a member of Bowman First Baptist Church.  Throughout her life Ms. Peggy was involved in many community activities and charities, including the Girl Scout Association, Easter Seals and the American Red Cross, among many others. She enjoyed working as a DJ for several decades. She and her late husband were members of the Country Music Association and enjoyed a successful career in the music industry for many years, performing at some of the most popular venues across the southeastern United States, including the Grand Ole Opry as a guest.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Paul Holt; a son, Tim Holt; a daughter, Paulette Holt; a great-granddaughter, Brandy Holt; a great-grandson Kylin Elliott and a sister, Hazle Bussell. Survivors include her children, Farron Holt, Carrie Stevenson (Scott); grandchildren, Rachel Haddock, Darlene Holt (Jerome Sanders), Bryan Holt (Joann), Brandon Holt (Melissa), Casey Hutto, Lindsay Kuck (Steven), Brad Holt (Stacy); eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Steve Heflin (Kathy) and her fur baby, “Tinker Bell.”

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to several people for their attention and love shown to Mrs. Peggy through the years.  Billy and Tammy Staley, David and Lisa Stack, Cindy Williams and Johnnie Sweatman were more than friends, they were family. Also, her great-granddaughter, Rachelle Blockett, who enjoyed spending time with Grandma and listening to her tell stories about the good old days.

Above all, Mrs. Peggy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family to the moon and back. She had a wonderful sense of humor which ranged from a wry smile to giggles.  She will be remembered for many things, but chiefly for her love of God, family and music. Mrs. Peggy touched the lives of so many people and she will be deeply missed.
