Peggy H. Polin, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, leaving a legacy of warmth, dedication, and unwavering love for her family. Born on November 30, 1950, in Jacksonville, Florida, Peggy grew up surrounded by devotion and care, values instilled in her by her late parents, Woodrow and Mary Hungerpiller.

Peggy’s journey began in Elloree, South Carolina, where she blossomed into a determined and kind-hearted young woman. She graduated from Elloree High School in 1969. Driven by her passion for education, she went on to become a 1973 graduate of Winthrop College.

Shortly after beginning her career, Peggy found her true calling in service to others through her longtime employment with TRMC. For over 30 years, she was a steadfast presence, known for her compassion, professionalism, and gentle spirit. Her colleagues and those she cared for will remember Peggy for her generous heart and the comfort she brought to everyone she encountered.

Peggy’s greatest pride and joy were always her family. She shared an enduring partnership with her beloved husband of over 52 years, Marshall Polin, whose devotion was evident in every chapter of their shared story. Together, they built a life centered on love, encouragement, and tradition. Peggy cherished her sons, Lee Polin (Alecia) and Matt Polin, guiding them with unwavering support.

As a grandmother, Peggy’s love only grew deeper. Gracie Polin, Ashlyn Spires, Dylan Spires (Taylor), Kaylee Polin, Belle Polin (Wesley), and Tyler Griffin (Chelsea) will forever treasure the warmth of her hugs and the wisdom that she so freely gave. Each grandchild was a unique blessing in her life, and Peggy delighted in every moment spent with them—celebrating achievements, nurturing dreams, and providing the safe haven only a "Gigi" can give. Her legacy continues through Freddie Griffin, her precious great-grandchild, who brought immense light and joy to her days.

Though Peggy is now reunited with her parents, her spirit will endure in the lives of all she loved. She leaves behind memories woven with laughter, resilience, and the quiet strength that defined her. Her absence will be felt deeply, yet her love will remain a guiding beacon for her family and all who were honored to know her.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Peggy’s remarkable life at the visitation, which will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Elloree First Baptist Church in Elloree, SC. The funeral service will be held at the same location on Thursday, July 30, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest with a burial at Santee Cemetery, Old Number 6 Highway, Elloree, after the service.
