Raymond Dean "Mr. Ray" Benton, 75 of 725 Snapdragon Street; Cope died Sunday, May 29, 2016 at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the church before the service.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Canaan Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Woodward officiating.

He was born February 15, 1941 in Savannah, GA; the son of the late William Mayo Benton and the late Sarah Turner White. Mr. Ray served in the U. S. Army; and was retired from Dempsey Wood Products. He was preceded in death by a brother; William "Bill" Benton.

Survivors include his wife; Mary Elizabeth Crosby Benton of the home; a son; Raymond Paul (Jeannine) Benton of Cordova; and a daughter; Wendy (Jama) Benton Rutland of Neeses; Grandchildren; Brooke Benton, Harley Berry, Kristina Rutland and Savannah Rutland; a great grandchild; Brantlee Rutland; 1 sister; Elizabeth Nesmith of Ellabell, GA and a brother; Russell Gene Benton of Cairo, GA.

Friends may call at the residence; 725 Snapdragon Street; Cope.

Memorials may be made to the H.F. Mabry Center for Cancer Care; 1161 Cook Road, Orangeburg, SC 29118.
