Rebecca Hughes Murphy, 73 of 658 Zion Church; Orangeburg, SC died Friday August 22, 2014 at her residence.
The Casket will be placed in the church at 10:00 AM before the service for visitation. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, August 25, 2014 at St. George Baptist Church with the burial in the church cemetery with Rev. Brad Chandler officiating directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg Pallbearers will be Harold Hughes, Ernie Hughes, Lewis Hughes, Michael Holloway David Cowan and Rabbit Ulmer.
She was born October 4, 1940 in Orangeburg, SC; the daughter of the late Harold Mason Hughes, Sr. and the late Georgia Irick Hughes. She was a member of St. George Baptist Church and was retired from Orangeburg Furniture Exchange. She was the widow of the late Richard L. Murphy, Sr.
Survivors include 1 son; Richard (Donna) Murphy, Jr. of Seneca, SC; 1 daughter; Robyn M. Heaton of Orangeburg; 2 grandchildren; Scott Heaton and Jackson Murphy; 1 brother; Mason (Louise) Hughes, Jr. of Orangeburg and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the funeral home.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM before the service at the church.
