Remonia (Hoover) Mills, a cherished soul who epitomized hard work and family devotion, passed away peacefully at her residence on January 28, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 30, 1932, in Covington, Virginia, Remonia led a life that was rich in love, resilience, and purpose.
For many years, she owned and operated her own trucking business, a testament to her incredible work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. Remonia embraced the challenges of running a business with grace and determination, traits that inspired those around her. Her unwavering dedication to her work was mirrored in her commitment to her family, whom she loved deeply and unconditionally.
Remonia leaves behind her beloved husband of 56 years, Arthur D. Mills. Their partnership was a beautiful example of love and companionship, filled with laughter, shared dreams, and unwavering support for each other. Together, they nurtured a family that will carry on her legacy of love and resilience.
She is survived by her children, Melissa Hoover, Rebecca Bracknell, Michael Hoover, and Audra Force, each of whom carry cherished memories of their mother's guidance, warmth, and tenacity. Additionally, Remonia is survived by her nephew, Landon Lee Price, who undoubtedly has fond memories of her influence in his life.
Remonia is preceded in death by her dear parents, Ellot Newton Hoover and Etta Beatrice Kelly Hoover, and her beloved daughter, Remonia Donna Kay Johnson. The loss of these family members shaped her into the strong and loving matriarch she became, and their memories will forever remain a part of her legacy.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Graniteville, S.C. Pastor Timothy Hoover will be officiating.
