It is with great sadness that the family of Mrs. Reta Murphy Metts announce her passing on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Canaan Baptist Church, 4977 Cannon Bridge Road, Cope. Rev. Alan Woodward will be officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Canaan Baptist Church prior to the funeral service.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jeffery Metts, Joshua Metts, Ryan Metts, Max Booth, James Murphy and William Bochette.
Mrs. Reta was born on April 29, 1944, in Orangeburg. She was the daughter of the late Wyman Murphy and the late Irene Craven Murphy. She was a 1963 graduate of Orangeburg High School. She married the love of her life, and they raised two sons. She and her husband were the owners and operators of several local businesses in Orangeburg. Mrs. Reta was the co-owner of Orangeburg Homes, which opened in 2004. She loved being outdoors with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Joyce Bozard.
Survivors include her husband of over 61 years, Henry Metts, Jr.; sons, Allen Metts (Cindy) of Cordova, John Metts (Theresa) of Orangeburg; grandchildren, Katie Bannister (John), Melanie Mizzelle (Jacob), Ryan Metts, Joshua Metts, Kennadie Metts, Jeffery Metts (Stacie); great-grandchildren, Lukas Mizzelle, Aiden Bannister, Abigail Yoakum; brother, Willie Murphy (Laura), sisters, Sandra Bochette, Cindy Booth (Mackey); sister-in-law, Edna McAlhany; her beloved fur baby, “Beauty” and many additional nieces, nephews, family and friends.
