Richard Brian Jenkins passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026, at the age of 66. Born on June 27, 1960, Richard lived in a way that left a strong and lasting impression on the people around him.

Richard worked as a truck driver for Cox Wood Preserving for many years. He was known as the life of the party, very outspoken, and larger than life. He brought energy wherever he went and had a presence that was hard to miss.

He also found joy in the simple things he loved most. Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he especially enjoyed playing with his dogs. These were some of the moments that brought him happiness and reflected the everyday pleasures he valued.

Above all, Richard will be remembered by his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Chris Jenkins. He is also survived by his sister, Cindy Gates; his brother, Robert Newton Jenkins, III, and his wife, Maribelle; and his brother, Jay Robin Jenkins and his wife, Maria and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Newton Jenkins, Jr., and his mother, Emily Shirer Jenkins.

A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church 390 E Hampton St., Elloree on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 2:30 P.M. 

Memorials may be made to the Maude Schiffley Chapter of the SPCA in Richard’s memory at 225 Ruf Road PO Box 1584, Orangeburg, SC 29118.

Richard’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
