Richard Washington Logan

February 19, 1947 — July 24, 2025

Mr. Richard Washington Logan, 78, of Bowman, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025.

Born on February 19, 1947, in Lee County, South Carolina, Richard was the son of the late Mr. Albert James Logan and Mrs. Emma Truett Hill. A lifelong resident of South Carolina, he dedicated his life to farming—a profession that reflected his deep connection to the land and his tireless work ethic.

Richard was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 58 years, Wilhelmina S. Logan. Together they built a strong and loving family that brought him immense pride and joy. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Julie Logan Kinsey; his sons, Richard Dewayne Logan (Lisa) and Boyce "Gerald" Logan (Christie); twelve grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. His legacy also lives on through his brother, James Logan (Belinda); sister, Shirley Martin (Keith); sisters-in-law, Lynn Spires and Mable Austin; brothers-in-law, Gene Spires (Carol) and Mike Welch (Joyce); as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Among those who held a special place in his heart was his dear friend Jack Walling.  He also cherished the companionship of his fur babies: “Tinkerbell”, “Ginger”, and “Lacy.”

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters—Maggie Jane McElveen, Lillie Mae Pendarvis, and Elizabeth Sanford—and one brother, Wesley Brown.

A man who found peace in nature, Richard loved fishing and hunting. These pastimes were more than hobbies—they were part of who he was: an outdoorsman with a deep appreciation for the natural world.

Richard was a faithful member of Branchville Church of God. His faith guided him throughout his life and provided strength during difficult times.
