Richard M. Reese, Sr., 88 of PO Box 9005; Orangeburg died Sunday, September 21, 2014 at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, September 26, 2014 at The Stringer Chapel at The Oaks in Orangeburg.
Burial Service will be held 2:00 PM Friday at at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia with Rev. Ryan Tucker officiating directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
He was born August 11, 1926 in Madrid, Iowa; the son of the late Evan Richard Reese, Jr. and the late Mildred Josephine Fallstone Reese. He served in the U. S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was retired from Greyhound Bus Lines after 36 years of service; a member of First Baptist Church in Orangeburg, SC. He was a member of the Harmony Masonic Lodge in Beaufort, SC and a member of the A & A Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Gwen Stock.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mary J. Kline Reese of The Oaks Home in Orangeburg; 3 sons and daughters-in-law: Richard M. (Nancy) Reese, Jr. of Lenexa, Kansas; Evan P. (Renee) Reese of Omaha, Nebraska, and Ralph B. (Rebecca) Reese, Sr. of West Chester, Ohio; 7 grandchildren: Bryan, Jason, Nicolas, Shelly, Ryan, Benjamin and Evan Reese; 9 great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Robert N. Stock of Mingo, Iowa.
