Robert Edward Haynes, 86 of 4316 Charleston Highway, Orangeburg died Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Palmetto Richland Hospital in Columbia. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Columbia Road Church of God in Orangeburg with burial at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg with Military Honors. Rev. Keith Vaughn will be officiating directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg. Pallbearers will be Harold Arant, Mike Corbett, Jerry Haddock, George Corley, Henry Williamson and Larry Lloyd.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Men's Sunday School Class of Columbia of God
Mr. Haynes was born March 12, 1928 in Columbia, SC; a son of the late Harry S. and Leta Dell Hughes Haynes. He was retired from Hygrade and as a Merita Bread Salesman and a farmer. He attended Columbia Road Church of God. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Bowman American Legion. He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Edward Haynes, a brother, John Haynes and two sisters, Ruth Williams and Mary Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Proveaux Haynes of Orangeburg; 2 daughters; Linda Felkel of Cayce and Sheryl H. (Floyd L.) Rogers of Statesboro, GA; 4 grandchildren; Dawn (Joey) Burnette of Lexington, Robert Edward (Patricia) Fulton of Santee, Amber R. (John) Stephenson of North Myrtle Beach and Karl Heindrick (Jolene) Rogers of Statesboro, GA; 11 great grandchildren, Mariah Fulton, Thristan Fulton, Britton Fulton, Toby Bircheat, Karlie Burnette, Tori Burnette, Breanna Lawery, J.P. Stephenson, Shepard Stephenson, Savannah Stephenson and Parker Stephenson; 1 brother; Henry and JoAnne Haynes of Jenks, OK; 3 sisters; Helen Brown of Napolean, Ohio, Betty Godwin and Dell Brunson both of Orangeburg and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the residence and at the Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, July 20, 2014 at the Columbia Road Church of God.
