Robert Michael, always known as “Mickey” Joyner, passed away peacefully at his home in Cordova after a prolonged illness.
Mickey was born in Newport News, Virginia on February 23, 1954, to William Garfield and Emma Jean Joyner. He spent his life working as a carpenter and had a solid reputation in the community in his home improvements business. He was also an accomplished musician who enjoyed playing music with his family and friends. Over the years he played in several local bands and was known to play back up on stage performances for well-known artists. His favorite past-time was playing Gospel and bluegrass music and accompanying his daughters while they sang in churches or around a campfire. Mickey also enjoyed camping with his Riff Raff Ramblers camping group. He will be remembered for his skill, talent, his sense of humor and his love for his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Erica Joyner Hair, a brother Paul Joyner, and a grandson, Stephen Strolis.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Lovelace Joyner; daughters, Barbara Boltin, Shelly Pound (Shawn), Amanda Johnson (Jordan); son-in-law, Cody Hair; stepchildren, Katie Spigner (J.D.), Timothy Garrick (Lauren), Joseph Garrick, Benjamin Garrick; brothers, Glen Joyner (Debbie), Gary Joyner, Eric Joyner (Marie); sisters, Dianne Anderson, Darlene Collins (Edward). Mickey was blessed with eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews of whom he loved deeply.
He was a member of Progress Lodge #356, Omar Shrine and Orangeburg York Rite Body. He was also a member of Wesley Grove United Methodist Church in Cordova.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Thompson Funeral Home 1012 Whitman St., Orangeburg, S. C. from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 PM.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. at The Pounderosa, 4110 Old State Rd., St. Matthews, S. C.
