Robert Bruce Rickenbaker passed away at his home Wednesday, April 27, 2026. Bruce was born September 29, 1945 in Elloree, SC. He was the son of the late Paul “Grant” LeGrande Rickenbaker, Sr. and Ida Lee Dantzler Rickenbaker.
Bruce loved the outdoors and loved his family. He spent his life farming the land with his brother James on their farm. Bruce loved to go fishing and enjoyed riding his four-wheeler on the back roads, he lived a simple life. He spent his down time people watching at the local IGA from the comfort of his Ford pickup. Bruce was one of a kind to say the least. He was a quiet man with a lot to say.
Bruce is survived by his beloved brother, James “Skeeter” Rickenbaker, of Elloree and his sister Dale “Rita” Herring (Lloyd) of Bowman, his nephew, Paul “Lee” Rickenbaker (Erica) of Kershaw and his niece, Rebecca Fletcher (Sean) of Elloree and several great nieces and nephews, JW, Mason, Clayton, Macy, Corbin, and Paisley of Kershaw, and Savannah, Summer, and Thomas of Elloree who gave him the title of "Pappy."
He leaves behind several close friends including Calvin and Jason Stock.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026 at Jericho United Methodist Church, 11 Houcks Gin Road in Cameron, S.C.
The family will receive friends at The Fletcher residence.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. 1012 Whitman Street Orangeburg, S.C. 29115.
