Robert Garrick Smoak

Robert Garrick Smoak, 78, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017 at his home.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, March 27, 2017 at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg.

Mr. Smoak was born on April 27, 1938 in Bamberg County.  He was the second of five children born to the late B.F. Smoak and the late Lurene Garrick Smoak.  Mr. Smoak graduated from Orangeburg High School in the Class of 1955.  He began working for Southern Bell as a teenager and retired from the company in 1993.  He also served in the United States National Guard for many years.  Mr. Smoak enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, going to the beach, spending time with his family, eating barbeque and shopping for vehicles.  He was predeceased by his first wife, Nina Hall Smoak,  whom he married in 1958 and his second wife, Bea Littrell Smoak, whom he married in 1987.  He was also predeceased by his brothers, Joe F. Smoak and Larry Smoak.

Survivors include daughters, Lisa Harrell (Mike) and Melinda Simpson; a son, Robbie Smoak; four grandchildren, Amanda McLane, Eli McLane, Joshua McLane and Sara Grace McLane; sisters, Peggy Hughes (John) and Joyce Smoak.
