Roby Leon Hanna, Sr.

Roby Leon Hanna, Sr., 78, of Orangeburg passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, after an extended illness.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.

Roby was born in Kingstree, S.C. to the late Burnieth G. Hanna, Sr. and the late Frances Mae Timmons Hanna.  He served his country in the United States Marine Corps where he was a veteran of the Vietnam War.  His passion was working on cars and heating and air.  He loved going to work, but when he could he also enjoyed fishing.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Hanna, a son, Roby “Lee” Hanna, Jr., brother, Ronnie Lee Hanna, Sr., sisters, Janice Jean Varner, Betty Mae Oliver and Billie B. Beonit.

Survivors include his son, Kevin (Inga) Hanna; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Bud (Ronnie) Hanna and a number of nieces and nephews.
