Roger Wilson Thompson, 77 of 1 Church Camp Road ; Cameron died Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Shady Grove United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery with Rev. Roger Goupil officiating directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg

Pallbearers are L.C. Kissam, William A. "Buddy" Keller III, James "Crick" Bridges, James Marion Axson, Johnny Garrick and Roy Walker

Honorary Pallbearers are Wayne Wells, Jim Richardson, Bobby Joe Wiles, Robert Hooper, Pat Gilmore, Clayton Spradley, John Zimmerman and David McCall.

He was born May 25, 1938 in Cameron, SC; the son of the late Woodrow "Buck" Wilson Thompson and the late Nellie Wiles Thompson. He served in the National Guard for 8 years. He was a farmer and loved his herd of cattle. He loved playing cards, fishing, auctions, ice cream and people. He was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church; a member of the Cattleman's Association; the Cameron Community Club; the Ring- o- Ramblers Square Dance Club; the Sunny Plain Antique Power Association; Community Hunting Club; the Calhoun Country Club; the Orangeburg Antique Car Club and the Senior Golf Association.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years; Carolyn Kaminer Thompson of Cameron; a daughter; Dr. Carolyn Rebecca "Becky" Thompson and her husband; Thomas C. Furlong of St. Matthews; Godson; Riley and Joy Godwin of Cameron; Goddaughter; Lynn and Mark Williams of Lodge; Godson; John Lloyd Godwin and Sarah of Cameron; 1 brother; James Malcolm "Jimmy" and Charlotte Thompson of Orangeburg and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the residence and at the funeral home.

Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, September 18, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
