Roland L. Dixon, Jr., a cherished member of his family and a dedicated servant to his country, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on April 26, 1931, in Richmond, VA, Roland lived a life marked by commitment, integrity, and an unwavering love for his family.
After serving honorably as a proud veteran of the United States Navy, Roland embarked on a fulfilling career with the U.S. Government in Communications. His work ethic and professionalism propelled him through his career until his retirement. Even after leaving government service, Roland still enjoyed communications spending time being active with ham radios and then finding joy in his later years as he contributed his time and skills in building and flying model airplanes and working in the woodworking department at Lowe’s, where his creativity and craftsmanship were appreciated by many.
Roland's legacy is amplified through his loving family. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Crystal D. Dixon of Prattville, AL, granddaughters, Kaitlyn A.L. Dixon and Emily R.M. Dixon, as well as his great-grandson, Ezekiel Nelson. He also leaves behind his nephew, Michael Richardson (Michelle) of Cecelia, KY, who fondly remembers his uncle's wisdom and humor.
He was predeceased by his parents, Mr. Roland L. Dixon, Sr. and Mrs. Mary B. Dixon, his beloved wife of 63 years, Ruth Ann Bloyd Dixon, and their son, Christopher L. Dixon. Roland's devotion to his family was evident in everything he did, and their memories of him will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
Roland L. Dixon, Jr. will be remembered not only for his service to his country and his professional accomplishments but also for the love and guidance he provided to his family, creating bonds that will last for generations.
