Rona “Ronnie” Russell

Rona “Ronnie” Russell, 82, of Orangeburg passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Church of God, Bayview Street, Holly Hill.  Burial will follow at Russell Family Cemetery in Holly Hill.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Church of God prior to the funeral service.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Dennis Knight, Shawn Givens, Ronald Crim, Fred Russell, Jr., Dennis Russell and Jacob Crim.

Rona was born on January 7, 1942, in Orangeburg, S.C.  He was the son of the late Perry Russell and the late Carrine Platt Russell.  He was the owner and operator of Russell’s Fence Company for over 40 years.  Rona was a life-long faithful member of the Church of God in Holly Hill, S.C.  He enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, going to the lake and riding his golf cart, but his favorite thing was being a “Papa.”  He was a devoted grandfather and great-grandfather.

Survivors include his children, Ronnie D. Russell, Ted N. Russell, Ellen “Tina” M. Crim (Ronald), Donald T. Russell; grandchildren, Tara, Tyson, Brittany (Shawn), Cheyenne (Dennis), Chad, Jacob and Angel; fourteen great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Sharpe (Ronnie) and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Loretta Hicks, Mamie Russell Huiett, brother, Orna Russell and his companion Cindy Wactor.
