Ruby Scott Pratt, born on February 2, 1940, embarked on a journey filled with love and devotion that spanned over eight decades. She left this world peacefully at her residence on September 28, 2025, leaving behind a profound legacy of family, warmth, and joy.
A devoted wife, Ruby dedicated her life to her husband, Oscar Pratt, Sr., with whom she shared a beautiful marriage of over 62 years. Their love was a testament to partnership and companionship, nurtured through shared experiences and countless memories. Together, they found joy in the simple pleasures of life, including riding around together, where each trip was another opportunity to relish their bond.
Ruby’s spirit shone brightest in her role as a mother and a grandmother. She was immensely proud of her sons, Oscar Pratt, Jr. (Mary) and Tracy Pratt, and cherished the moments spent with her beloved grandchildren, Shawn, Theresa, and Madison Pratt. The small touches of her nurturing nature extended even further with the arrival of her great-granddaughter, Madilynn Pratt, who brought an extra sparkle to her loving heart.
In addition to her family, Ruby was surrounded by a loving support system of siblings. She is survived by her sisters, Zaide Jackson, Virginia Hall (Clarence), Diane Hall (Neal), and Bonnie Jackson, as well as her brothers, Blease "Dee Dee" Scott, Jr. and Carl Scott (Janice). Each of them shared in the stories and laughter that crafted the tapestry of their shared lives. Ruby also held a special place in her heart for her nieces, Sabrina Hall and Olivia Scott, along with an additional number of nieces, nephews, and friends who were all touched by her kindness.
While Ruby left behind many cherished family members, she is reunited with those who have passed, including her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Blease and Cherry Pratt Scott, and her siblings Kenneth Scott, Hurbert Scott, Sheila Scott, and Delease Grubbs. The bonds formed in life are never broken by death, and her love continues to echo in each memory they shared.
Ruby had a passion for collecting angels, each piece reflecting her nurturing spirit and steadfast faith. These treasures, alongside the love for her family and her devotion as a "Nanny," enriched her life and those around her. Her vibrant presence, unwavering support, and gentle heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Church of God, 681 Bayview Street, Holly Hill. Funeral services will begin immediately following at 2:00 P.M. Rev. Clinton Crummie and Rev. Jerry Lennon will be officiating. Entombment will be at the Scott Family Cemetery in Holly Hill.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Neal Pratt, Jeff Pratt, Eric Pratt, Phillip Scott, Alvoid Pratt, Jr. and Jamie Aldridge.
As we gather to remember Ruby Scott Pratt, we celebrate a remarkable woman whose life epitomized kindness, love, and family. Though she has left this earthly realm, her spirit and legacy will live on in the hearts of her loved ones forever.
