Mrs. Sammie Mae Troutman Hunter, 86, formerly of Four Holes Community and St. Matthews passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 11, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Four Holes Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Four Holes Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Tom McElhaney will be officiating.
Mrs. Hunter was born on March 1, 1931 in Elloree. She was the daughter of the late O.A. and Pearline Felkel Troutman, Sr. She loved to cook, sew and complete word search puzzles. She served her family well as a homemaker and her delicious meals and cakes will be greatly missed. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, James W. Hunter, Jr., 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Sheryl and Willie Grubbs of Denmark and Janice Martin of St. Matthews; one grandson, William Grubbs; five granddaughters, Kelly Lee (Robert), Amanda Mills (Jonathan), Shannon Sharpe (Todd), Samantha Reed (Rocky) and Miranda Martin; eight great-grandchildren, Johnathan, Joshua and Jake Lee, Whitney Jones, Madisyn Mears, Abby Mills, MaKhayla Grubbs and Lawton Reed.
A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
