Obituary

Sharron M. Kovel passed away peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2026 following a long battle with dementia.

Born on May 30, 1950, in St. Catherines, Ontario, Sharron was the youngest daughter of Donald Randall and Theresa Dudzic Randall. Early in her childhood, she immigrated to the United States with her family and settled in Buffalo, New York.

After graduating high school, Sharran met and later married Harold “Kip” Kovel. Together they built a life that took them from Buffalo to New Jersey, then to Northborough, Massachusetts, where they welcomed their first son, Kyle. Not long afterward, the family moved to Sunrise, Florida, where their second son, Bryce, was born.

Sharron’s children remember a happy childhood filled with love, laughter, and time spent together at home. In 1985, the family moved to Midlothian, Texas, where Sharron devoted herself to raising her sons as a stay-at-home mother. Much of her time was spent driving to baseball practices and games, always cheering proudly from the stands and encouraging her boys in everything they did.

Family trips became some of the memories her children would cherish most. They often visited Sharron’s parents in Bonita Springs, and every year the family traveled to New York to spend time with relatives. One especially memorable trip took them along the California coast, driving from San Diego to San Francisco and into the redwood forests.

After Kyle and Bryce graduated from high school, Sharron and Kip separated and later divorced. Fiercely independent and adventurous, Sharron began a new chapter of her life in Castro Valley, California, where she spent years exploring the state and pursuing her love of photography.

Becoming a grandmother brought Sharron tremendous joy. She eventually returned to Texas to be closer to her grandchildren: Oliver and Adelaide, the children of Kyle and Elizabeth, and Maybelle and Nala, the daughters of Bryce and Penni. She loved spending time with them, caring for them whenever needed, and creating lasting memories together. When Kyle’s family later moved to Grenada and then to Florida, Sharron remained a constant presence in their lives, eventually settling in Miami to stay close to them.

In late 2019, Sharron began showing signs of dementia. Although the disease gradually took much from her over the years, her strong sense of independence and deep love for her family never faded. Through every stage of her illness, the love she carried for her children and grandchildren remained unmistakable.

Sharron is lovingly remembered by her sons, Kyle and Bryce Kovel; Kyle’s wife Elizabeth Gray, and their children, Oliver and Adelaide Kovel; Bryce’s children, Maybelle and Nala Kovel; her sister, Donalee Wittcop, along with her children and grandchildren; and her brother, Bob Randall, and his children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Randall and Theresa Dudzic Randall.

Sharron will be remembered for her independence, adventurous spirit, and unwavering love for her family.
