Shirley (Odom) Grice

Mrs. Shirley Odom Grice, 78, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, in Neeses, South Carolina surrounded by her family.

Born on March 10, 1947, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, Shirley was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard "Dick" and Margaret Odom. She spent her life rooted in the community where she was born and raised, carrying forward the values instilled in her by her family.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James “Jimmy” D. Grice. Together they built a life centered around love and family—a legacy that continues through their children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Shelby Grice Berry (Alex) and Jamey D. Grice; her stepson, Allen Thomas (Robin); and her cherished grandchildren: Trey Nettles (Morgan), Ryan Nettles, Madison Thomas, Rylee Nettles, Meredith Thomas, Miranda Thomas, Jessy Nettles, Marleigh Thomas, and Maelynn Thomas. Shirley also leaves behind her sisters Joyce LaMonica (Joey) and Terri Mizzell (Gage), as well as her brother Dickie Odom (Jody) and her beloved fur baby, “Buffy.” Her extended family includes many more loved ones whose lives were touched by her presence.

Shirley deeply loved her family and found joy in being surrounded by them. Her devotion to those closest to her was evident in every aspect of her life.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel 1012 Whitman Street. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.  Rev. Bill Johnson will be officiating.
