Solomon Kittrell

Solomon Kittrell, 91 of Cope died Monday, May 9, 2016 at the Methodist Oaks in Orangeburg.

The Casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service.

Funeral Services will be held 4:00 PM Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Canaan Baptist Church in Canaan Community, Cope with burial in the church cemetery with Rev. Alan Woodward officiating directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.

Pallbearers will be Ike Kittrell, Joey Kittrell, Jay Kittrell, Justin Kittrell, Aaron Stack,Brian Prater, Ken Thompson and Daniel McDaniel.

He was born September 22, 1924 in Bamberg County, SC; he was the son of the late I. J. Kittrell and the late Florrie Myers Kittrell. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Canaan Baptist Church, a farmer and an avid deer hunter. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Jervey Kittrell, Lindbergh Kittrell and Milton Kittrell and by 2 sisters; Mildred Kittrell Carrigg and Lessie Hilda Kittrell.

Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law; Bernice Kittrell of Cordova.

Friends may call at the residence of Janice and Robert Chitty in the Canaan Community of Cope.

Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
